Responsive Design

Around 45% of web visits are now being made via smartphones and tablets. Responsive design caters for this traffic by serving the same code and content to all devices. The content itself is edited through a single CMS – saving retailers’ time – while page elements can be ‘hidden’ for certain devices to improve the user’s experience.

NetDirector Auto V10 works on four major ‘snap points’, resolutions at which it resizes to scale to devices – desktop, tablet horizontal, tablet vertical and smartphone. Utilising an innovative rails design, the visitor is served content at a size an in a format which will best suit their digital journey. A key benefit of responsive design to SEO; it is Google’s recommended site structure – serving the same core code to all devices rather than splitting it between a desktop and mobile website. Our extensive work with third parties led us to build-in additional integration capability to NetDirector Auto V10. Bold Chat, Codeweavers, CAP, Stapletons – and many more – are supported, whilst we have the ability to engineer APIs as our range of partnerships expands. This adds value to retailers, and the consumers interacting with them online.

CMS

Responsive design requires a different mindset to that for a non-responsive site. Due to the way the frontend operates, HTML can be displayed incorrectly if users aren’t careful, so to negate this potential stumbling block, NetDirector Auto V10’s CMS has been developed to enable a non-technical user to generate high-quality content with minimal training.

The result is a CMS which does as much for the user as possible with all content – whether text, image, advert or video. As well as helping retailer sites to stand-out in the minds of consumers, creative images, high-quality fresh and unique text will promote a website in organic search results; with the new CMS, it’s far easier to achieve this.
